…New Albany’s Going Local Week 2009 event will take place on Tuesday September 8, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the New Albany Floyd County Public Library located at 180 W. Spring Street in New Albany, Indiana. At the event, community members will learn receive literature detailing where locally grow food can be purchased in the area, meet area food producers, and watch cooking demonstrations featuring local chefs. There will also be a “Local Food Pledge” that attendees can sign to show their commitment to eating Indiana grown and produced food during Going Local Week 2009. The pledge reads: “I pledge to eat at least one Indiana produced food at each meal during the week of September 6-12, 2009. “Going Local” will help me enjoy fresher, locally grown food and help me keep in mind that locally grown foods are good for the environment and buying them helps support the Indiana economy.”

“We’re celebrating “Going Local” in a big way in southern Indiana”, Peggy noted. “It’ll be a great event for everyone involved.”
