What: Public presentation about a new rule for implementing Indiana’s antidegradation policy
When: 5:30 p.m. (local time), Tuesday, August 25, 2009
Where: Garrett City Hall, 130 S. Randolph, Garrett, Ind.

IDEM’s informational presentation will include: A brief history of Indiana’s antidegradation policy;
·    What has been done to develop a new rule for the policy’s statewide implementation;
·    An overview of the new rule;
·    The steps in the formal process to finalize the new rule; and,
·    Question and answer session with staff members from IDEM’s Office of Water Quality.
“Although it’s not time for the public to submit comments to IDEM about the draft antidegradation rule, we wanted to go ahead and provide information about the work that has been done and where we go from here,” said Bruno Pigott, assistant commissioner of IDEM’s Office of Water Quality. “Our presentation should be useful for individuals who intend to submit comments or people who simply want a better understanding of this technical and complex topic.”

Additional IDEM public presentations are scheduled on August 26 at the Jackson County Public Library in Seymour, Ind. and September 21 at the Knox County Public Library in Vincennes, Ind.
