Green Ministries: Faith and Environmental Awareness in Congregations

March 8, 2010
9:00 amto1:00 pm

Where: Trinity English Lutheran Church, 405 W. Wayne St., Fort Wayne, IN
Cost: $15 a person (or $10 a person for groups of three or more). The fee includes lunch and a free copy of the book EcoFaith: Creating and Sustaining Green Congregations by Charlene Hosenfeld.

Are you curious about the cost savings of energy efficient practices? Are you interested in starting a recycling effort at your congregation? Have you thought about encouraging the community around your congregation to take up green practices? Do you want to make your worship facility more eco-friendly? Many Indiana congregations have put their faith into action by taking some environmentally friendly steps. At the workshop Green Ministries, participants will hear about the ventures of these congregations and see their work up close.

Held at the Trinity English Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, this half day event focuses on congregations and their effective greening practices. Trinity’s Fred Hasecke is one of several congregational leaders who will discuss green expansion at their facilities. Participants will hear about a congregation which encourages its individual members’ green practices in their personal lives; a native landscaping project; and successful community programs initiated by a congregation.
