Build, Remodel and Weatherize: A Conversation with Local Experts

The panel includes Dan Killion, Sherlock Homes; Amie McCarty, Mann Plumbing; Charles Winslow, GW Worldwide; and, Don and Melinda Seader, Worldwide Automotive Service. Participants will discuss their products, services and ventures, and answer your questions about incorporating them into your home or business.

Interested in saving money on your home or business energy costs? Hear what local experts have to say about various products and services available to help improve energy efficiency in your home. Also listen to what two local business owners have to say about their experiences building a “green” facility. This panel includes a host of local people who have embraced ‘Green’ building ideals, either in the work they do or the businesses they run. Each participant will make a short presentation and then provide advice about how to incorporate ‘Green’ building into your own plans.

Where: Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council, 2126 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46202.
Cost: $550.00 per participant and includes course materials as well as a light meal each week.

The Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council, a non-profit organization devoted to minority business development in the State of Indiana, is proud to offer a LEED™ Green Associate Training Course in conjunction with BSA LifeStructures beginning April 6, 2010.

The course will focus on the understanding of core concepts of the LEED™ Rating Systems needed to pass the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, LEED™ Green Associate Study Exam. The LEED™ Green Associate credential is a prerequisite to pursue the next tier of accreditation, LEED™ Professional with Specialty, which is designed for professionals that directly apply LEED™ and green building in their practice.

The LEED™ Green Associate Training Course is a must for professionals in the following fields: Manufacturing, Product Supply,Facility Management, Marketing, Construction, Finance, Real Estate and Development, Law, Education, Government, Administration, Architecture, Engineering,

A light meal will be served from 5:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. prior to each class session.

About the Instructor: Donald R. Able, AIA, LEED AP Create Group, BSA LifeStructures  - a registered Architect and LEED™AP (BD+C) with a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System.

About the Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council:
The Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council (IMSDC) is a free standing minority supplier development council. The Council is comprised of over 140 local and National corporate members and maintains a database of over 400 certified minority suppliers. The organization is an affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), and one of thirty-eight regional councils operating in the United States. The Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council was created by the Indianapolis business community in the mid ‘70s to address and support minority business development.

Each month there will be a sustainability topic/discussion at the beginning of each meeting. Green Drinks Fort Wayne is still about the informality of the event, however we wanted to bring in people from different areas of the environmental movement of Fort Wayne and hear what they are doing.
