06/11/09 Business Incentives to Go Green
Green Business Network presents the first Green Business Networking Series event at the Columbia Club on June 11th, 2009.
Green Business Network is an Indianapolis based organization that promotes green businesses through education and connection. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Indiana Chapter of the US Green Building Council and the Hoosier Environmental Council.
Obama’s administration’s focus on stimulating the US economy and reducing business’ carbon footprint has created new opportunities for businesses to obtain financing for innovative green projects and create new jobs in the state. This event will focus on governmental incentives that are available on the federal, state, and local levels for energy efficiency projects; energy conservation; and automobile‐related incentives.
Weatherization $131,847,383
State Energy Program $68,621,000
Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program $42,380,100
Total: $242,848,483
“The funding will support energy audits and energy efficiency retrofits in residential and commercial buildings, the development and implementation of advanced building codes and inspections, and the creation of financial incentive programs for energy efficiency improvements. Other activities eligible for use of grant funds include transportation programs that conserve energy, projects to reduce and capture methane and other greenhouse gas emissions from landfills, renewable energy installations on government buildings, energy efficient traffic signals and street lights, deployment of Combined Heat and Power and district heating and cooling systems, and others.” (Excerpt from Press release on March 26, 2009 : Obama Administration Announces Additional $42,380,100 for Local Energy Efficiency Improvements in Indiana; Block Grants to Support Jobs, Cut Energy Bills, and Increase Energy Independence)
The panel includes governmental officials from Indiana Office of Energy; Indiana Housing & Community Authority, as well as representatives from non-profit organizations.
Moreover, the event has dedicated a two-hour period after the panel discussion, for participants to engage in “green networking”.
The program seeks diversity in its attendance, which will include corporate leaders, business professionals, business owners, local policymakers, educators, and local media persons.
We invite you to be part of this event!
