09/03/09 Greenhouse Gas Legislation: Will your Business Survive in a Cap and Trade World?

The House of Representatives just passed the landmark Waxman Markey American Clean Energy and Security Act. This landmark bill is expected to create new jobs, increase national security by reducing dependence on foreign oil, and preserve the planet by reducing the pollution that causes global warming.

Many companies are currently wrestling with the unknowns associated with this rapidly changing area and need information in order to effectively prepare for the future. According to some estimates, the Waxman‐Markey legislation would more than double electricity bills in Indiana and might negatively impact Hoosier businesses profitability and competitiveness. This is why the Green Business Network, is pleased to present the Second panel discussion and networking event in Green Business Networking Series on September 3rd, 2009 at the Indianapolis Columbia Club. The topic of this event is Greenhouse Gas Legislation: Will your business survive in a Cap and Trade World.

The Green Business Network is an Indianapolis based organization that promotes green businesses through education, collaborative marketing efforts and networking.
This 3‐hour session begins with an explanation of Greenhouse gas legislation its implications for Indiana businesses and then focuses intently on available tools and resources available to Indiana businesses to stay profitable and competitive in this new environment. Moreover, the event has dedicated a half hour period before and after the panel discussion, for participants to engage in “green networking”.

The program seeks diversity in its attendance, which will include corporate leaders, business professionals, business owners, local policymakers, educators, and local media persons.

Part of the proceeds will benefit Hoosier Environmental Council and Indiana Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
The Hoosier Environmental Council (HEC), founded in 1983, is Indiana’s largest statewide environmental non‐profit organization. The Hoosier Environmental Council has been a leader in bringing visibility to such serious environmental challenges as mercury pollution and power plant waste.

USGBC is a non‐profit organization composed of leaders from across the building industry working to advance buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.

We invite you to be a part of the Green Business Networking Series event.
