The Indiana Office of Energy Development is launching a new energy efficiency grant program next month. The initiative will make $4.5 million in funding available to Indiana Small businesses, health care facilities, institutions of higher education and nonprofit agencies. The program will make grants of up to $100,000 for any energy efficiency retrofit project available with a 50 percent local match.

Butler University has hired its first director for the Center for Urban Ecology. Tim Carter comes from the University of Georgia, where he worked as a faculty member. He is currently working on a proposal with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and other community groups to install and monitor rain barrels around the city that will collect rainwater.
