Castalia Homes certifies the first LEED Platinum Home in Boone County

March 09, 2010, Carmel, IN-Castalia Homes, LLC is proud to announce that it has certified the first LEED Platinum home by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) in State of Indiana located in Zionsville Indiana, which is located in the Stonegate subdivision. The home is located at 6639 W Deerfield Dr, Zionsville, IN 46077. The home has the highest certification in the available through the USGBC with a Platinum level certification. The home also scored a Gold level rating under NAHB which is the highest for that rating system as well. Castalia Homes has contracted a third party rater who to test the home under the energy star standards as well as the LEED standards. Since the Castalia Homes uses a third party to rate the homes under strict standards, we can truly say that our homes are “Green”.

The rating system, called LEED (leadership in energy and environmental design), is simple and under the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Buildings or spaces are assessed on six criteria: site, water, energy, materials, indoor environmental quality and innovation in design. If they accumulate a minimum of credits, they’re deemed ‘certified’; if they get more, they achieve ’silver,’ ‘gold’ or ‘platinum’ status, which is the cream of the green crop.

When building with Castalia Homes, customers can be rest assured that they are truly buying a home with the highest standards. “The process in building a Green home starts with design, location of lot, and with conception. Too many times, builders put in a Bamboo floor and call the home green”’ says Frank Redavide of Castalia Homes. “We are taking every step to insure that we are educating ourselves and our client in every step to make sure they have the best investment for their home. Building homes under this certification process is not easy, but it certainly demands results. The homes we build are all high performance and low maintenance.”

Energy Efficiency is also a main component of the building process. Castalia Homes have found that their homes will have a 30-80% reduction in their heating and cooling cost for the home. This is a one major factor for why clients are now looking at Green. Castalia Homes has the most certified green homes in the State of Indiana.

Building green makes good sense. By using better insulation, water heaters and furnaces, energy star appliances, lighting packages and recycled products. We all win. You will consume fewer natural resources and enjoy draft-free homes with a lower energy cost. Castalia’s use of low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds), low toxic paints and adhesives helps reduce odors while improving indoor air quality. Green building is a plan to build green from the beginning, not after construction has started. Cost is minimal (2 to 4 percents) compared to the health and well being of your family. Castalia Homes will walk you through all phases of design and keep you informed about your investment every step of the way.

Castalia Homes has the most certified LEED for homes projects in the State of Indiana. Every Castalia Homes green-built home will carry the USGBC certification seal for three important reasons
·    Help Preserve Our Environment
·    Healthier Home
·    Energy Efficient
